Common Roofing Issues

Poor Ventilation
The temperature of attic spaces should be very close to that of the outside air temperature. If the attic is overly warm in the winter, ice and snow melts too quickly and then re-freezes at the roofs eve. This causes ice damming. If the attic is too hot in the summer, it can cause curling and clawing of asphalt shingles. Proper attic ventilation prevents these problems by allowing for proper air flow and essential circulation.

Poor Workmanship
The proper installation of any type of roof requires a combination of skill and attention to detail.  Many times, problems that are not apparent until months after a roof is completed are a result of contractors rushing through a job, and not taking the time to do the details right.

Hasty Repairs
Often repairs are made in haste without identifying the true source of the leak.  This often requires a more complex fix than would have been required.
